Did you know?

  1. More than one million children are affected by divorce each year.
  2. 70% of divorced parents fail to build a cooperative post-divorce relationship which is so crucial for their children
  3. Children of divorce are two to three times as likely to suffer emotional and behavioral problems

What is TransParenting?

This four-hour educational program focuses on the needs of children during a divorce. It is also designed to help minimize the negative impact of divorce on children at a time when parents are naturally preoccupied with their own adjustments. Recognizing that their joint roles exist, the seminar helps parents begin to restructure their relationship and make appropriate plans for their children. Required by the District Court of Caddo and Grady Counties, TransParenting is conducted by Southwest Youth and Family’s qualified professionals who have a minimum of a master degree. Seminar topics include:

  • How children experience divorce
  • The critical importance of a cooperative post-divorce relationship between parents
  • Developmental stages of children and how their needs relate to their ability to cope
  • Why and how developmental stages should impact visitation schedules
  • Signals that children should exhibit when in trouble and the ways in which parents can respond
  • Other adjustments children will need to make as a result of divorce
  • Question and answer time

The fee is $55, which can be paid in advance or on the night of the seminar. Money orders, exact cash, credit cards, and debit cards are accepted.

Parents who attend the seminar together may be eligible for a discounted rate!
